The decision came in the wake of unproductive talks aimed at establishing a common stand at the event. Click on the audio icon to listen to the report by Alicja Baczy?skaThe Durban Review conference on racism held in Geneva saw a boycott of several member states over fear of it turning into a platform for anti-Semitism. We should value jobs created by Poland Spring
Kennebec Journal
I suggest that the state does no such thing. It values the 800 jobs — with full benefits — that Poland Spring provides for Maine residents at a time when jobs are scarce. It values the fact that Poland Spring spends more than $100 million in Maine each year including $40 million in payroll and $65 million to Maine suppliers and other companies. It values the 40 new good-paying jobs created at the plant in Kingfield a part of Franklin County whose residents largely rely on seasonal ski tourism and logging. It values the several million dollars that Poland Spring proposes to invest by building a new spring water station in Fryeburg. And it values our abundant renewable ground water resources by carefully regulating Poland Spring’s operations.
