Tuesday a local resident reported to 911 dispatchers the church located on State Road 42 was on fire. Firefighters of the Poland and Jackson Township volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene.

Phil Bredesen plans to travel to Europe this weekend to seek further clean energy investments in Tennessee. The Democratic governor plans stops in Switzerland Germany and Poland beginning on Sunday. He is to be accompanied by Revenue Commissioner Reagan Farr and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber. Bredesen is scheduled to visit the Munich Germany headquarters of Wacker Chemie AG which is building a $1 billion plant near Cleveland that will make polysilicon a material used to make photovoltaic cells. The trade mission is scheduled to return to Tennessee on June 21.
